September

I've been sitting here, looking up random livejournal accounts that share my interests throughout the day. Somewhat depressed.
I found an interesting girl, who seemed to share many things with me. I looked through her livejournal, and she seemed to be really wonderful, though nothing said how old she was. She was a teenager though, I'm sure.
She wrote in a slightly goth style, but not too much so. That's my favourite style. She enjoyed the fine points of life, said she got high on life without drugs. I'd say she was really smart and easygoing. Sometimes she would make references to how tired she was of certain things, and of people telling her to keep going. Yeah, kinda sounds like me. She also made a lot of references to her happiness, her pain, her chemo, and her gradual recovery from cancer treatment.
So then I noticed that her last entry was in 2001. The entry was just one picture- but I couldn't see it anymore. The image, wherever it was hosted, no longer exists. There were 84 comments. She wasn't a very popular person on livejournal; she had around 20 friends. I was curious to know what image could make so many people respond.
All 84 comments were tributes. They were poems, praises, reflections, and eulogies. They all said goodbye. They told her how much they loved her. They said that they would meet up again. They said that heaven was a little brighter. They said she would rest in peace.
Her sister posted a final comment. On October 9 of 2001, this girl had died of liver cancer. She was 15.
I feel like I've lost a friend before I even made one.
I wish I could have seen that picture...

It is horrible to loose someone you know and cherish, but I guess we both agree that losing a friend you haven't even had a chance to get to know is worse. It makes you wonder, what could have been, why does it have to be this way, how much you would give to be able to spend only one day with that person.
It seems sad stories seem to chase us all, all we can hope is that they eventually turn out good and let a little light shine through the dark.
